Potty question Hi all, another Yorkie newbie question..... my 14 week old has a tendency to pee outside, and then immediately come in and pee again. So I've been waiting until she goes twice and then bring her in. Apparently she has me figured out and still saves a little for my lovely carpet. Is there a way to train her to empty her bladder? Does that come with age? I'm used to being a large dog mommy, so I feel as though there is a learning curve here!! Thanks! |
I believe at 14 weeks, they will be constantly peeing whenever they need to. They're pretty much babies in diapers at this point. I would suggest that you strictly restrict her access to any carpeted areas at all times. Instead, limit her space to a small confined area that is covered with potty pads. At the same time, take her outside to potty on a regular schedule (if you're trying to outdoor potty train her). Yorkies are very small. It'll take a lot of time before they develop the muscles to hold in their potty. Don't be alarmed if it takes a little over a year before they can completely hold their potty without accidents. P.S. I hope she's had her shots already before taking her outside. |
