Fearful Little Girl I have a 3 year old female yorkie that I've had since she was 8 weeks old. She seems to be nervous in certain situations, I'll just list them out. She hates car rides, she'll get in but pants a lot and can't sit still. She hates water, sometimes if you just say bath she'll run and lie down and if you try to pick her up she will snap at you. Lastly we recently lost her kitty sister to cancer so we got an 11 week old yorkie boy to be a companion for her. She seems to like him, both wag their tails when sniffing through the baby gate. However when he tries to play she gets scared and runs away unless she gets cornered then she'll growl and snap at him. I don't like drugs so I bought her a thundershirt. I just want her to be comfortable and happy with the new puppy but I'm at a loss of what to do. Where's Cesar when ya need him? |
Buddybear gets jerky when we start out in the car, just very tiny pieces to distract him for maybe 5 minutes which seems to help. If you read many posts on here you will see that Yorkies should stay with their moms and siblings until they are 12 weeks old,,,,,,they will tell you all the why's etc. She could still be missing her kitty friend and not quite know what to do with such an exuberant pup. The bath situation requires patience but snapping should not be tolerated. She needs to learn you are the alpha leader and if necessary pin her down firmly like her mommy would do. |
