Going backwards Need help...had trained Macy with a few commands and she was doing great. Noticing that she has seemed to forget it all and going backwards. |
You need to practice every day when they are young. |
Every night at 8PM is treat time, I put Cody through all his commands and tricks, then gets rewarded with a treat. During the course of the day several times a day have Macy do her commands. Once a dog learns a command you must use it everyday, several times a day.I trained verbal and hand commands, Cody now follows hand commands. |
Thanks. Have been using as often as I can but this girl has a mind of her own at times |
lol, that's a yorkie for ya lol. Just do the best you can. Training just the basics, sit, stay, drop it, leave it are really so important for the safety of any dog. I have trained my boy to stay out of the kitchen when i am cooking. He is a 6 yo a rescue, I have him 3 years, he gets under my feet and if something should fall to the floor he will try to snap it up before I can open my mouth lol, so he is banned from the kitchen lol. |

But totally agree! They need constantly daily training. My two actually love training time. It's like a game to them because treats are involved. And make it interesting too. Don't just give treats during training time. Give commands throughout the day, sometimes giving treats, sometimes not. Keep them on their toes. ;) They say dogs/Yorkies have the mentality of a 2 or 3-year old child. So, it's no wonder they need constant reminders. :) |
A yorkie IS a toddler that never grows up lol, ya just gotta love these little imps. |
