Desperately need advice I have an 8 month Yorkie named Levi. He is such a good puppy with ONE EXCEPTION...When we're not home he has started to pee on 2 pieces of furniture. He has always used potty pads and it's never been an issue before...but since we had him fixed he will not stop pee'ing on the end table leg and the back of one of our living room chairs. This just started in the past 3 weeks and now we cannot get him to stop! Is there anything I can spray on the furniture or anything I can do to distract him from doing this? Thankfully we don't have carpet, but we have to somehow resolve this issue and I am clueless as what to do. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you get your puppy to stop?!?!? |
You will need to start potty training all over. Keep him confined to one area when you can't be there to monitor him constantly, somewhere like the kitchen, bathroom or laundry room OR an X-pen if you have one. As far as furniture you can use Natures Miracle on fabric & maybe bitter apple on hard surfaces ? IDK if it detours from peeing or not but they don't like the taste of it so maybe the smell would detour him from the area as well. It may take some time for those hormones to settle down after his neuter IDK as I've never heard of one starting to mark AFTER a neuter that wasn't already marking BEFORE the neuter. Also I would have a vet visit just to be sure he doesn't have a UTI. |
So, how is Levi doing now with his marking behavior? Hope things are going better and the advice you were given helped you out. Did you get him to the vet to see if the problem was indeed a UTI? There are things we never think of on our own that coming to a forum with questions can give us the answer or a clue to what the answer could be that we would not have known on our own. |
