Puppy pulls the wee-wee pads apart (into a million pieces) Its not good when u come home to the sight of a piddle pad torn to bits (used or unused) - Bought one of the "frames" that hold the corners down but that just created a greater challenge to her skills to dismember inanimate objects. The pad frame lost. If you have the Solution to this - PLEASE SHARE (though I cant Imagine what could change her mind) |
I use washable pee pads for mine, they were doing the same thing no more tearing them apart..:) |
Buddybear loves to tear Any paper apart. He did the p.p. pads too. I finally got him trained to go outside. I didn't know about the washable ones but wish he would use them when it's raining and snowing. |

I suppose cloth diapers would be as good as washable pee pads for pets? They are not cheap though... if you just toss the soiled diaper away that could get expensive pretty quick. |
Google ugodog This will help with pup shredding PP pads, seems to be a yorkie thing, they LOVE shredding all types of paper, tissues, toilet tissue, napkins etc. |

Any way, yes, Chewie didn't even bother to wait until we left the room. She would try as I was putting them on the ground. Dan telling her No in his firm voice would just get him what I call "dominating ears" (ears pulled halfway back and turned towards each other) and she'd do it any way. I sprayed, but you know what helped? I would let her smell them and "help" me put them down. I'm sure that the links and such would work even better but, it's what helped us. |
Spray with Bitter Apple? Spray pee pads with bitter apple to keep them from chewing up and destroying pee pads? Or switch to the type that is pheromone scented or not...depending on the type he is now chewing. |
Mine only shreds the paper pads when I am work. The ones we're have overnight are fine in the AM , as are the ones we use the weekend. We've only had him for less than two weeks and I took the first week off to help him with the transition. The pad holder i bought today is no match for him. He doesn't seem to be eating any of the shreds, but I still worry how dangerous it could be. I keep the pen well-stocked with toys that I switch out each day. Any advice would be appreciated. |
Just WAIT until he discovers paper towel rolls! You'll feel like you won the Super Bowl every night when you arrive at home! Confetti everywhere! Spray the pads with the product Bitter Apple. |
I too use the washable pads. The ones I get are adult bed liners (expensive, so you'd not likely want to toss them)... I was not happy about putting them in the washing machine at first. But, some bleach, on the hot cycle & I've grown used to it. Finding the pads torn up, especially when they'd been used ended up being nastier to me than washing them. Plus, I was worried they'd ingest some of the plastic and get sick. The bitter apple on the pads may also help if you stick with the disposable! |

Now that Fabian has been home by himself during the workday for a few weeks and knows that I come home for lunch everyday, the pee pad shredding has stopped! It seems to have been a separation anxiety thing. He's really a resilient little man. |

Loki is 12 weeks old and started ripping his pee pads up. So I duct taped the corners and this helped for two days and then he was even more interested in getting the duct tape off to get to the pee pad. Lol Long story short, two days ago I stopped using the duct tape and he totally stopped ripping up the pee pads. Haha he's such a little weirdo. |
