More biting. I want to say that Chewie really is a great little puppy. She's calm, playful, quiet, and so sweet. To myself and my husband, and pretty much any animals (with a few breed exceptions) other people. My daughter she adores. She even will rub Elina's scent all over her, just like she'll do for the rest of us. I've done what was suggested, and it did work a bit, but only in regards to the resource guarding. Until her trainer comes over for one on one, Daughter stands her ground and then stops playing. Today, though, daughter wasn't ANY where near me. Chewie literally showed she wanted some play time with Elina. She was basically "correcting" my daughter when she didn't hold the bone correctly. One high pitched bark, and then a quick nip. Husband, AGAIN, was against the alpha roll, and I explained that July wasn't really soon enough. She had to show submission. I'm just needing either affirmation that this is the correct path, or if there are any other suggestions. |
No one responded to this? Have things gotten better? Has the trainer been helping you? Let us know! |

Until trainer physically can show me, I don't think it's going to stop. She's now snapping at my husband. Now, she won't do it every time, but she WILL do it. She TRIED with me 3 weeks ago and I was able to put a stop to it immediately. If hubby hugs, kisses, holds my hand or does pretty much anything close to me, she'll snap or growl. With my daughter we were able to almost stop the guarding, but she now correct her behavior. Trainer has worked with her in the first completed obedience class and in our home, so she knows our girl. We have to wait for the new facility to open, and after that attack (attempted) on my daughter by the two dogs when she was walking her, she's no longer as friendly to big dogs or that particular breed. She definitely needs animal socialization- pronto. Facility can't open fast enough |
Oh okay yes sounds like this little lady needs help- my girl was definitely a handful of issues in the beginning too. Keep us posted on the trainer! |

Yea I do. She was just very posesive of me and not biting my children but being snippy. I mentioned it on the boy or girl thread bc my boy has just been sooo completely different with none of the issues. I don't know if it's just bette breeding, luck, etc. Lol |
