Dribbles potty when let out of xpen
 

My Carson is 4.5 months. The potty pad training is going slow but steady. My newest problem is when I get home from work I let my 3 year old out of her crate and then hi out of the xpen. He has a potty pad in there but gets so excited chasing his sister around and dribbles all over. He's so excited that he just won't stop running. It's so hard to clean up. He will not stop jumping up and down in the pen until I let him out, so I can't get him to go before I let him out. Any ideas?

hehe..don't think I have any helpful advice (mine goes outdoors), but just wanted to say this sounds so cute (knowing how frustrating it must be for you). :p

Is there any way to get him to settle down and not chase his sister around when you're home?

My situation was not quite the same as yours, but you could maybe try it...
During the day, Scottie stays in a room that has a glass sliding door. So when I come home, he used to get suuuper excited and would jump and jump and jump non-stop. He didn't have issues with peeing...but he just wouldn't stop being crazy jumping and whining to be let out. He gets a lot of air-time when he jumps. I swear he can jump up to my waist some times, if he wanted to. It bothered me because I didn't want him to hurt himself.

So, after I taught him to sit, using both the "sit" command or a hand gesture, when I come home now, I use the hand gesture to get him to sit. He sits now because he knows I will not open the door until he sits down patiently and waits. He learned pretty quickly to sit patiently after a few days worth of training sessions of sitting, me opening the door, and getting a treat from me.

Try putting a leash oh him and keeping in an area that is easily cleanable till he settles down

My little 1 year old does this sometimes. We call it excitable pee. When someone comes to the door, when he sees his Godmommy's, just getting super excited, he will dribble. I really don't think they know they are doing it. I will take him immediately outside and he pees like nothing else happened.
Try and not let him know you are frustrated.
It's no big deal, even though mine never just goes pee in the house.
