Size of Bladder? So my little guy is now about 11 weeks and concistantly will ring his bells to go #2 outside but isn't connecting it with #1. Is this just becuase his bladder is so small he can't control it right before it comes? Otherwise he's doing really well with is but if it's something other than bladder control i want to figure it out asap. Any suggestions for me? We tried pee pads but he's just not interested. Thanks! |
If your little guy is ringing the bell to do #2 outside at 11 weeks, you are WAY AHEAD of the game! That's awesome! Yes, they do have tiny bladders at that age and have little warning that they need to pee. It takes time, but it sounds like you are on the right track and as smart as your pup is, I'm betting he'll get it before too long! |
I agree with First Yorkie. My Millie learned to poop outside before she learned to pee. I think it had to do with wanting to be as far away from the house as she could to do her business. But at 11 wks they have not learned to control their bladder yet (hold it). This is were crate training helps. It teaches them to hold their bladder. It's the first step in control. |

That is so wonderful. I just started bell training and it is not going so well. They are afraid of the bell. |
I wouldn't try to make them do anything with the bell at first. Just hang it on the door so that it rings every time the door is opened. If even that is too much for them, try giving a treat every time the bell sounds so they associate it with something positive. |
I will give it a try. I placed it in the kitchen but now they want to eat it. Today, for the first time, they peed outside first thing, everytime I took them out. Big day! AND same layed down when I said down. Such a good boy. |
