This may seem a little strange but try having the grandchildren read him a little story if he will sit with them it's a great way to get the grandchildren calm with the dog and for the dog to relax around the kids, it's worth a little try it may take a few attempts and the kids will love it as they feel good about helping and the little fur kid may calm down .

That's worth a try. Yesterday I babysat my Granddaughter (10 months and nearly walking) and I took Deuce with me. I went to their home. He did well with her alone. Did circle her and I reminded him to "love the baby" and reminded her to be gentle. He sat on my lap while I was supervising her play at the activity table. I don't know if he was protecting me or if he thought I was protecting him. Occasionally he will nose butt her and sometimes give her a lick. When my 3 year old grandson came home from pre-school Deuce just looked at me as if to say "Really???". He found himself an out of the way chair and sat there to observe. BTW - He wore his thunder shirt and had a belly band on since he was in another yorkies home - My daughter has a yorkie too. He did not pee or mark. My grandson wanted to know why Deuce was wearing underwear.

I think we have this under control! We had our Thanksgiving on Saturday the 21st since I share my girls with in-laws. Deuce did well with the thunder shirt and belly band. He even asked to go out by hitting my legs and another time barking at the door. My daughter left her yorkie with me since she was traveling and visiting where there were other dogs. Maddie also needed a haircut so I need a few days to complete the task. Deuce is still doing great. He isn't wearing the shirt nor band and is fantastic. Hopefully we are over the bump but I won't let my guard down. We remain attentive to potty needs. However I still think he will need the shirt and band when I have the family here. He gets a bit anxious when there is so much chaos. Thanks to all of you who contributed ideas to solve this problem. I also have to give credit to the ladies and trainers at my local Pet Smart here in Fredericksburg who voluntarily spent time with me discussing the situation and contributed their ideas towards a solution.

Deuce is so cute! I found out that Olie is actually 8 1/2 years old. We found out after we got his papers. So he's older than we thought. Also, I noticed some dark pee and then he peed on a pee pad we had in his playpen, which he's never used before, and there was blood. I took him to the Vet and he has a bladder stone. We are using diet right now in hopes of it dissolving rather than surgery at this time. So part of my little Olie's problem was not his fault. He was sick. He's doing really well now and even seems like a different dog the past week. He's been playful and he lets us know when he has to go. The diet he's on has made it so he has to go more often but that's okay. I don't mind taking care of him at all. He's such a good boy and tries hard. I haven't tried pee pads because so far he's been good to let us know. I have thought about them though at night time. Getting up and having to walk him down stairs is hard on my own sleep issues. He as going 8 hours but since he's been sick, he's had to go more often, which is good. The special food makes him very thirsty and he goes more often. Thank you again for your reply! Good thought about a urinary problem and using a pee pad would certainly help to see color if there is a problem. When we went back to our old house during the course of dealing with this problem and he did use the pad and things did not look odd as far as urine color so I did rule that out early on.

Just thought I'd give an update on the front hall peeing that Deuce was doing. Well I think we nailed the problem. It appears he was peeing due to stress. When I have a crowd over, especially children, I put the belly band on him. Christmas was the Ultimate test. It appears that when he wears that he understands it means no pee and he signals to go out when necessary no matter how many people are here. I am so happy "we" figured this out. This forum is wonderful!

Put the pad in the mud room. He is most likely wanting HIS system back. He will know where to go after a couple of times.
