Help potty pad training My 1st Yorkie Lucy 17 months was easy to pad train. I had read how difficult Yorkies could be to house train. Well my Piper 5 months is giving me a run for my money. She is just not getting the potty pad concept or going outside. Just this week she figured out the dog door. She doesn't have a certain spot she prefers she goes when the urge strikes. I can't seem to figure out a schedule. Example, last night she slept with me. 6 hrs without going. Thought she would go first thing, nope she waited 2 and 1/2 more hours before she went. Is there something I can put on the potty pad. I have tried her own Lee when she has an accident but that hasn't helped. She was getting the idea before she got sick, but for the last 3 weeks she has used the pad once. And I'm sure that was by accident. If I interrupt her it could be an hour or longer before she finishes. I am looking for any suggestions I think my husband is losing his patients. |
Don't know if this will work or not, but fyi.... Can you open the door to the crate and push it up to a door that is open to the outside, so that she cannot get into the room, but can go to the outside? This worked well with our Yorkie. Or maybe push the open crate up to an open doggie door, while blocking her from being able to get anywhere else but outside? Cathie |
