they pee a lot Our two yorkies are 5 and 6 months old. They are pee pad trained but thing is they pee a lot . I thought after they got older they would pee less but seems they pee frequently both of them. I am wondering if it is cuz they are males? and trying to out pee the other one or something? We go through so many pads a day and it is pricey. They have been to the vet and all that. They have had all their shots and dewormed etc, . The 6 month old is getting neutered this Friday. They will cover a pee pad within a couple of hours with 5 or more pee stains. As soon as we put another pad down they run over and pee on it again then the other does the same. |
Males mark their territory by urinating on things, this could be the issue with your two boys, one pees on top of the other to reclaim as his. My last two females 6 years apart, my older one adored her baby sister, the older one would not pee until the younger one did, the older one would stand and wait for the other one then would pee on top of hers, lol, what was that all about, I could never figure that one out. The older one would do the same thing with the poop, she would wait for the young one to poop then go and pee on top of the poop lol. How I miss those two little girls. |
Not really. Figure a puppy every hour or 2. Two pups 3 hours can be 4-6 pees easily |
My two girls pee often but not really a whole lot. Ziva (the older one) also waits for Abby to pee and then covers it with her own! They go out to a fenced side yard to check things out and pee while they are there- I am home so I let them (bad habit) I think they are bored it is still to hot for walks. |
Get used to it, our two year old male just pees and craps whenever he wants too regardless of the training. If it's cold or raining expect him to pee and crap in the house. People have humanized these dogs to be worshiped instead of dogs. |
Yorkies have really small bladders so it is possible that they do pee often but how are you comparing them i.e. what do you mean they pee 'a lot'? Is this compared to bigger dogs you've known or just your expectations? With more info, we may be able to offer more insight to help! My dog is 2 years old in October and he pees once an hour from about 6 p.m. to midnight but not much in the day because he tends to drink less water in the day for some reason.. Hope that helps? |
Thanks for replies. Matese that is too funny how your older girl would react to the younger one when she peed or pooped.:) Reality I do know what you are saying about them not wanting to go out in rain or snow etc. It was many years ago I had a female ten years and she hated to go out in the weather and basically used my house as her own personal toilet. It was a very long time ago and I had no knowledge of crate training pee pads etc.It was not talked about a lot back then. Only thing acceptable back then seemed to be outside training or you had failed in potty training 101  Thanks ritapatt &,ironmike86 for your replies and help as well. SirTeddykins I guess I assumed they would pee less often as they got older .Or maybe I was just hoping they would LOL I guess reading the replies tells me that these two are basically normal with their peeing habits. |

No excuses crapping in the house when they will go out in nice weather. Make them go, or is it you that doesn't want to go? |
