Puppy biting and nipping... nothing is working! My 16 week old Yorkie is a right little land shark! She constantly jumps up and bites our hands and clothes for attention, runs and lunges at us and bites, and chases us and bites our feet and ankles when we are playing outside. The worst is the biting for attention, we'll be on the couch watching TV or on a laptop and she'll just jump up and bite me really hard! Every day I do bite inhibition training with her, where I play with her with my hands and reward her for every lick or nosebump. She's getting quite good at that now, not biting my hands when they're next to her face and she's calm enough, however if she's really excited or playful it's like she forgets it all. When she jumps up and bites me currently I am putting her in a time out in the kitchen, then when she returns rewarding her for calm behaviour... but I have been doing this since we got her at 8.5 weeks old and feel like it just isn't getting better. Is it normal for it to go on this long? Is there anything I can do? |
