pee pee pad training Does anyone strictly have their yorkies just pad trained? I'm in Canada where our winters get to -52 and we get wildlife on our street in broad daylight. No exception that Georgia will be an indoor dog (outdoors SUPERVISED). Her pads are changed daily, pooh flushed right away. We will likely turn our deck into a sun-room next Spring where we can keep her pads and her and the cats will have access to it. I'm just curious if anyone has had issues with smell or training etc... I purchased a pad tray at PetSmart so that she wouldn't be confused with mats. |
I'm sure there are people who do have, I would think that if you change the pad or use the washable pads and change them you won't have a smell issue. |
I have Zoey on pee pads only.....she is 2 lbs 7 ozs and way to small to deal with extreme cold or heat, so I trained her to pads only. I have no problem with odor or mess. I flush poo and change pads regularly, so no concerns with odor. Plus, when I have to go out without her, she doesn't have to try to hold it. I think it is working out great .....wouldn't have it any other way. |

I do pick up her poo right away and her pad get changed at least once a day, sometimes twice depending on how much shes went. I do have a multi cat household and litter boxes are done 2x a day. I've never had a puppy before (Monet was rescued at 2.5 years) so I just wanted to make sure I was doing things right to avoid smell. So far so good :) |
Yes, Teddy is 100% pad trained. I put his pads down in a high sided cat tray (because he lifts his leg) and clean the box and replace the pad twice a day in addition to mopping the floor cuz he drips :) |
