Tiddling indoors. Our new Yorkie Teddy wees indoors on some days. Is this because he's entire, and is marking? He weed up my daughters friend the other day, I was horrified lol! I'm hoping getting him castrated will solve all these issues! |
Here is a useful site re: marking: Canine Urine Marking (Indoors) Neutering does not always stop marking so it's a good idea to discuss things with your vet so you don't have any false expectations. I believe neutering is more effective when done earlier and you mentioned elsewhere that your boy is 3-4? Still, it may reduce the behavior so, again, ask the vet! My Teddy marks so I have kept him tethered to me and try to keep his anxiety to a minimum since he marks when he feels scared or nervous. Marking is sometimes just behavioral, rather than hormonal, so you could keep a log when you notice him doing it to see if you observe any trends. Hope this helps! |
Thank you, awwww you have a Teddy too! I feel that he is definitely house trained and that this problem is purely marking. He has 3 areas he tends to go, but saying that he's not gone indoors at all for 2 days now, but some days he can go twice! I am definitely going to get him castrated, but I do understand that it might not stop him. |
Willie came to live with us back in March when he had just turned 2. He was unaltered at the time. He marked and humped everything! Neutering seems to have helped. He is pretty much potty trained and goes on his pee pad or outside. Fortunately, my 3 are able to play in the backyard often. He marks every tree and bush out there. But, knock on wood, he doesn't do this anymore inside. |
