chewing the wee wee pads Our little girl has been doing pretty good getting trained, but as of yesterday she went through three wee wee pads because she is chewing them all up! And because she chewed them, she is now going to the bathroom in her pen on the floor- which she NEVER did!!!! Any suggestions?? TIA!!!! |
I gave up on the paper pee pads and went to the washable kind. They are awesome! Not only is it cheaper in the long run but they are safer for the enviornment. They can withstand hundreds of washings too. I know that there are a lot of YT members here who use the Piddle Pads. I have 2 different kinds; Pish Pads and Piddle Pads. You can get them both online. Good Luck! :p |
:p i didnt even know that was an option! THANKS! |
LOL! Spencer chewed them up also... I then went on to the litter box training which has worked wonderfully. |
Well, up until yesterday I would have suggested getting the frames that the pee pads fit into. We have been using them with great success. But yesterday, I changed the pads in the 3 frames and one of the pups (appx 11 wks old) decided it was time to play with the pad. Dug, scratched and just tore the pad into pieces before I even knew it! So I changed the pad AGAIN, locked them out of their "bedroom" (which is in our breakfast nook off the kitchen) and waited a while before I let them back in. So far, no one has even attempted to tear one up again. (Knock on wood, cross by fingers, and hope it stays that way!) So, after that experience, I don't know whether to recommend the frames or not LOL!!! |
Me too! I finally took the top to a big plastic bin, turned it upside, lined it with newspapers, put the pee pad on top, and took those large metal clips and clipped all 4 sids. She gave it up (for now anyway). It's working so far. What is it with dogs and pee anyway??? I just put that thums on my feet to keep her from biting my toes, and she licked it all off!! I'm so frustrated with the biting problem. But she's 3 mos old. If it's anything like raising children, I guess if you keep them alive long enough they'll out grow it. ...?? |
we have the frame too! BUt i cant complain- she hasnt eaten them again since those!!!! |
I have been using the wee pad trays to hold them in place because Diezel would grab one end and run around the room with it. As cute as that was I had to stop it. Since getting the trays I have not had any problems. I am thinking of changing to the piddle pads in hopes that he will make that his "new rug" since the texture is different. If you decide on the tray. Petco has one that is awesome. It has a bottom so nothing can leak thru (unless the pup isnt all the way on it like most) but I also but an old towel under the tray just peaking out from underneath to absorb anything where he might miss! |
