Want to get a puppy training book, which one????? I am wanting to start training our puppy to sit, come, stay, etc,she is almost 16 weeks. Was wondering if there is a book that someone would highly reccommend? Have been training her on the pee pads and she is doing real well at it. If we didn't live so far from the Pets Mart I would do the puppy classes with them, I also was wondering what treats are adviseable.Thank you. |
The book I am reading, The Dog Listener, is good. She makes it sound so easy to train them. I have 3 puppies that are 8 & 9 weeks old sitting after one day. But really that is easy. They love cheese. LOL I think the author's name is Jan Ferrel, it's Jan something anyways. The book is in the bedroom and I'd have to turn the light on, which would wake hubby, so I can't go check it out. I got these 3 babies to sit with 5 or 6 adults milling around. I have been very lax in their training and they are all greedy for cheese. But I had them all sitting and waiting for their turn in about 45 minutes. The older ones remembered quickly but were afraid they'd miss out on the cheese so they were not co-operating at first. I bought "The Dog Whisperer" by trainer Paul Owens methods and mysteries of "The Horse Whisperer". This book gives a LOT of insight on things not covered in other books. |
