Refuses to potty on grass! I'm losing my mind. My little girl is still learning about potty training. She goes out the dog door and will pee on the patio right Infront of the door, she then steps in it and so does our other dog. It drives me CRAZY like the grass is just right there and we have nice grass. Most of the time if Im not watching her she will go in the house but when she goes out she always does that. I got the potty patch for her and put it on the patio and it worked for a few days but she is still going on the cement. My mom watched her and our other dog for a month while I was out of town and she went potty a lot in her house so now that we are home I want to really buckle down. We got home today and I have her on a 6 foot lead at all times and am taking her to the grass to go potty every 15 minutes. We stay out there for 5 minutes if she doesn't go I bring her inside and into the crate she goes. I try again in 15 minutes. Is that a good way to train her??? She is pretty confused why I have her on the leash and is mostly just frozen in fear. Any advice would be very helpful :) |
I am not an expert, there are products you can spray which have a scent so she knows where to go....you could try one of those. With my last dog, going in the grass was not an issue, after getting over his fear of everything he took to the grass, but we didn't keep him on a leash while in the grass so he could run around and get the feel of it. When he did go, there was praise and treats in order (he was not a Yorkie by the way). |
