chasing to catch My beautiful yorkie female is just over four months old and very very attached to me. She looks for me and follows me and is always where I am. However, although she loves to sit and sleep on my lap, she will not come to eat her food or to sit on my lap. I have to chase and catch her every time. She goes everywhere with me but it is such an effort to catch her. She loves her trips in the car and she loves me, but I think she is teasing me deliberately. How to I get her over this. |

Sounds like she's making a game out of it, the chase. Reward her when she comes to you when called or of her own accord. Just stop chasing her, or withhold affection when you HAVE to catch her, make it more fun when she comes to you. |
Chasing her is a game to her, it's attention she wants right then and now. She already knows if she ignores you when you all her, you are going to come for her, now the game begins. When it's meal time set the food down call her to eat, if she doesn't come, leave the food, leave the room, if she is hungry she will eat on her own time. Yorkies are notorious little teasers lol, sweet little critters that they are lol. Like sir teddykins suggested, when you call her and she comes, reward with a treat. If you don't like the chase and capture game, then ignore it, stop the chasing, reward when she comes. Yorkies are very good at training US lol. |
chasing my dog Thank you for replying. Yes, she is making a game of it, I think it is great fun for her, she is very very clever and loves playing. She does the same to my husband. Food is not an enticement for her unfortunately as she has not much interest in it. Hopefully she will grow out of it eventually. It actually is most frustrating.:) |
