The Marking....SMH Hello. My name is Cheryl. I have a dilemma. I have three Yorkie boys. One I have had since he was four months old. I had him neutered at five months. He's pad trained and a joy. My husband recently purchased a four year old in tact male and a one year old intact male. They both mark quite a bit. I have resorted to putting them on the belly bands with the pads so the urine won't get on the walls. They both have an appointment to be neutered on Monday. Until then and beyond does anyone know how I can stop them from marking? Please help. |
I just got a newly neutered young adult about 24 hours ago. Zero marking thus far because when we come back inside the house, the belly band goes right back on before the leash comes off. When we go outside, leash on, belly band off then outside we go. It's a slightly bothersome but mindless routine that I/we will do for at least a week. LOL Just teaching him the ROUTINE, "No potty in the house!" Outside potty "good potty", inside potty "NO!" We'd still be on the first pad except I forgot to take the band off once when we went outside, oops, didn't realize until he got to business. ;) |
Thank you. I am going to try that. I really don't want them to have to wear the band's all the time. It messes up their hair and it looks weird. I will work toward the no potty in the house at all. No wee wee pads as well. Maybe I am confusing them a bit. I don't know but I definitely will try what you are doing. We will all have a happy home with our babies running free and happy. Thank you again. |
There might be a better way, IDK. We've used belly bands on our other yorkie the last year and a half only when we're going to be away from the house for a couple hours, dog has run of the house that way. Simple velcro fastener, beige or brown cloth bands... and a desert camo one..with a liner. It's no worse than me having to wear pants. ;) |
:) That's a good way to look at it. Maybe I will make some in nice fun colors and look at the idea of them more positively. Thank you. :) |
