Thanks Hi Cherry, Thanks for your response. I was thinking that maybe I should buy another crate (a bigger one) and use that in the bedroom for him to sleep. What do you think? I don't want to leave him in the kitchen/living room area overnight as that is where he is all day long... and he seems to do good while I'm at work. My neighbors that work from home or are around during the day say they never hear him. Best, Caroline |

.. At night, he's been in bed with me - -and fine until he learned to jump OFF of the bed....last night, I couldn't get him to settle down, so I put him in his pen (8 panel pen - each panel is 2 feet long/high) with his bed, water, litter box and a chew toy. He was barking (can't stand the barking) and whining.. then fell asleep.... The thing that I need suggestions on is that I don't want to keep him there at night as he is there all day long... So, I was thinking of getting another crate ( a larger one), put a bed in there and train him to sleep in a crate again.... Would that be possible for him since he hasn't been in a crate for a long time? |

Thanks That is what I'll do... buy another crate and keep it in the bedroom... He will just have to get used to it... and this way, I will know he is safe too.. not running around if I'm sleeping...OR keeping me awake at night because I have to chase him down when he jumps off of the bed! I think this could work.. and then I can keep him in the open pen while I'm at work... and he can play, etc. THANKS very much! Caroline |

I am not doing well with training him. I thought he was doing great on the pads but lately it seems as if he is just "going" wherever he feels like it. The only time he "goes" where he is supposed to is when I first get home and take him out to the balcony (he has pads there and in the house). He is nipping/biting alot. I can't even pet him without getting scratches from his teeth. I know he is young and this is probably normal. I have lots of chew toys for him and he uses them AND my hands. Any help?!?!? |
My problem is that a few times when I got up to take Parker out at 5 am, I didn't put him back in the crate, but let him get in bed with us. He used to sleep through the night til about 8am, but since we did that he wakes up automatically and barks uncontrollably when we try to put him back in the crate after coming back in from peeing. I was thinking we ruined the crate training. Now we have been just putting him in his downstairs cage and then we go back to bed. He doesn't seem to mind this, it is where he has a bed, water, some toys and a pee pad. I also feel bad because this is where he stays all day. But, like I said, now whenever we have cause to put him in the crate- say if we take him to someone else's house- he will even poop in there! |
