That's MY hair! Ok, so i've been lurking around the boards picking up some great tips for my little guy Titus (who's only 10 weeks). I think i've been pretty fortunate... he sleeps in a crate (door closed) for 6 hours a night before he needs to potty... although he's still getting the idea of the pads, and can already "sit" on a consistant basis. The problem i'm having is with my hair. I have long hair and when i wear it in a ponytail (which is quite often) he likes to hop up on the sofa while i sit on the floor and chew and pull on my ponytail. If i sit on the couch he clamours us my shirt and sits on my shoulder to eat my hair. Any suggestions? I now do the stren no, take him away from my hair and try to get him to play with a toy but he just goes right back for my hair. Bitter apple dosn't seem like a good hair treatment so can anyone help me out? |
Hmmm... That must be some might good-tasting shampoo and conditioner that you're using! What I would do is this: Do exactly what you are doing but if he doesn't desist once you've said NO and offered a substitute, immediately break eye contact, stand up and move away. You should only need to ignore him for a minute or 2 and then start over. I realize this takes effort on your part (especially when you're sitting on the floor!), but he sounds like a smart puppy. I think he will soon get the idea that chewing on your hair = loss of your attention. Congratulations on what you've already accomplished!!! |
Me too! My hair is not even long. Right now it is short, needing a trim so longer than usual. ceeby gets on my shoulder to gnaw on my ears and hair sometimes. the other night I was lying on the couch and he got my hair in his mouth and tried to run away with it. Silly little thing!!!!!!!!! |
Samson did this when he was younger, he is 10 months now, but he stopped after a little while. I think I just tried to keep him away from my hair and he just stopped eventually. Not sure why they do it to begin with though! |
Reyna used to do the same thing to me...especially when I would lay on the floor and do my sit ups. I'd always say "NO" I guess she just kind of grew out of it or got the idea cause she doesn't do that anymore...thank goodness :D So I'd say...give it some time...and stick with the firm "no's" |
Spray the tip of your tail with Bitter apple. Pixie was just introduced to the Bitter apple a couple of days ago and OMG! She foamed at the mouth! She was so turned off by the taste that she will not go behind the TV now! lol She knows that the bad tasting cords are behind there! If your hair did not tase so nice.... maybe it would not be so tempting? I hope you find something that works for you... |
This isn't quite the same thing but if I lay on the floor they go totally nuts. Biting my hair, digging in it and licking me like crazy. It is really funny. I don't get it. My hair is red and short. Who knows? I just don't lay down for them. I tried Fooey spray from Dr Foster and Smith but that did not work. I hated the taste. (I didn't mean to taste it) but they are not bothered a bit by it. Not much help. Sorry. |
