holding it through the night... when can i reasonably expect a puppy to hold it through the night? bunjee is 16 weeks now and will still cry to get out of the crate for potty once or twice a night and sleeps at 2-3 hr intervals. |
I think every dog is different but Samson held it all night when he was about 2.5-3 months. It may have been sooner but that is when we started crating him. |
Zoe cannot hold his pee at all unless he's being held or in a car. I do not crate/cage him so he pees throughout the day. It seems like everytime he drinks, he pees. TOO MUCH. He is wee wee pad trained so thats good. |
When Sully was a puppy, we chalked it up to part of his training to take him out every 4 hours or so during the night. Now, of course he's 1 yr old and can hold it thru the night and then some.......but not when he was little. Good luck with training! |
Cali was about 4 1/2 months old. Once I put her in bed with me at that age she started sleeping through the night. She would get down the first few nights and use her wee wee pad but after that she would sleep from about 11:00 until 5:30 or 6:00. She then gets up goes down to pee and comes back up to bed and kisses my eyelids. |
I have a large Crate that has one end has a pee pad and the other has a bed. I week before I picked snickers up from the breeder (11weeks) he stopped peeing in his crate! He just stopped. I feel bad. When i go get him in the morning he all hyper active.....I put him on his pee pad to pee, but he still holds it in....dripping but holding as he jumps on me for affection instead of peeing. So I have to give all hugs and loving before he will settle down and pee. |
I don't think you should really expecthim to hold it all through the night...some yorkies are able to but since he is still a baby he doesn't really have the bladder control yet!! My girls didn't hold it until they were almost six months and Magic still has to potty at least once in the night most of the time!! |
