Help!! My 2 1/2 year old male yorkie keeps peeing on the floor! He never lifts his leg or squats, he just walks and leaves a trail of pee behind. He is a wonderful member of the family,:aimeeyork and is in the house all day, unless he wants to go outside. This behavior has been going on for a few months now and I'm afraid we will have to get rid of him. :( Please help me!! |
The first thing you need to do is take him to the vet, he could have a UTI or something, it doesn't sound like he's peeing on purpose. While you wait get him some belly bands and enzymatic floor cleaner. |
I agree with showgirl. It sounds like a medical problem. If he is just walking and pee is coming out there is something not right here. A visit to the vet is most imminent. Let us know how he is doing after he sees the vet, please. |
dog Oh don't get rid of the little fella. He just needs some attention. If it is medical take care of that. If not, it is time for some real discipline. Try hanging the pee pee pads. Maybe he will use those. Some dogs do not like to go outside. So let em pee on the pads. I hate to say this but my JoJo will have an accident and pee on the side of the dog crate every so often. I don't know why. I think it is separation anxiety when I leave to go somewhere. I love this little guy and will never get rid of him. I just clean it up and start all over. Usually he is good about going outside. I hope this helps. All else fails, get some doggy pants, stick his tail through the back hole, pad inside and let him cruise around in those. |
This is not normal, like others have posted, it could be UTI if it has been going on for months, please take this lil guy to the vet. |
Hi, and I think your answer was the most helpful. We actually did get doggy pants(he looks so cute in them), But the stores didn't carry his size. He is potty trained, my 10 year old daughter trained him very well, and he loves to go outside. He mainly doesn't go, though the door is always open. |

I'm not sure what you mean by doggy pants, but this is what I meant by a belly band, Disposable: Vet's Best Comfort Fit Disposable Male Dog Wraps at PETCO Reusable: (combined with human incontinence pads) Vet's Best Perfect-Fit Washable Male Dog Wrap at PETCO |
Hi, What Showgirl is saying to you is that wearing of the belly bands is a temporary measure until your little boy sees a vet. There sounds like there is a medical reason that he is not squatting or lifting his leg to pee. He is housetrained so this sounds even more like there is a reason this behavior is not right. This could be a serious threat to your little boy as it looks to us so this is why we would like for you to take him to the vet to have him checked out. Please understand it is because we are concerned that we say this. I hope you will consider this. |
