Penny shoves her bum in other animals faces! Hi, I'm still fairly new here. My little yorkie, Penny, is 16 weeks old now but since we got her shoves her bum in other animals faces! She does it to other dogs at the park, at training classes, sometimes when she meets people she turns with her back end to them, and we have 2 cats. She's so sure she wants them to sniff her rear, if the cats are relaxing by the back door she'll back all the way up to their face, like reversing. She's sat on my younger cats face multiple times. If other dogs try and sniff her at the park she cocks her leg, lets them have a good sniff. Like she's up for anything. Or rolls over and lets them smell. I've read that this is just submissive behaviour. Is there truth in that? Will it go on forever? Anyone else with the same embarassing situation? Will it improve when she is spayed? It's hilarious. Just a little embarassing and I'd like to know why! Thanks, Danni |
Hi and welcome to YT. Animals communicate by smell she's just being friendlhy. Did the trainers think she was being overly assertive? Buster's always been a laid-back dog. When certain dogs approach he will be standoffish and for others he might just rollover. I just feel he's less threatened by these dogs and he's a better judge of dogs then I am. It's better to have a dog that's friendly then one who wants to bite or attack at least. |
You have a flirt. :) Pippi acted like this when she was in season. She has always been the most submisive of our three. I think if she'd sat on the cats head though, he would of taken a swipe at her. |
Got you a lil hot momma...joking My lil Prada will go a lay right under their face and open her legs and let dogs smell...lol..I was floored when I saw this. She doesn't do it much any more. But she lets our other dog groom her like a cat. I just shake my head and laugh at her lil butt. |

Its sort of like saying ... "Hey whats up" in dog talk ! Just a way of saying hello and greeting another dog in a pretty in your face kind of way . . LOL :D |
Rolling over and presenting her tummy is typical behavior for a friendly puppy. If she ever does it while shaking, ears back, eyes wide and showing obvious signs of fear or cringing, that's another thing altogether but when happy and greeting other dogs, totally normal young dog greeting for other dogs. |

It's odd how Ruby's demeanor and attitude has change since Brandi has been gone. Before she would bully and target her. It wasn't until she was diagnosed that we put tow and tow together and now we knew why. Now that I look back on it I think that my gal Ruby sensed that Brandi was sick the entire time and her trying to take the lead as pack leader in our home she was just doing what was natural pack leader behavior.... Gosh , I miss my sweet Brandi so very much !!! |
