Senior with behavioral issues My dog lost her companion 18 months ago. She has not been easy since. Though it is understandable, she was better but now seems to be getting worse. Initially it was depression, but now she's not doing the things that dogs should do, like eating or going to the bathroom or walking without coaxing - a lot if it. She's also been diagnosed with pancreatitis and 1st stage kidney disease, so her diet has changed much to her chagrin. She's never alone either because she's got sitters who spoil her as I have. I have clearly let this go on too long. I am at wits end, and I am looking for suggestions of good obedience regimen/training/maybe antidepressants on top of this. Thanks so much. |
This may not be the best answer, but it's the first thing that came to mind. IF you are ready for another pet, could you get one? Maybe she is in desperate need of a furry friend to help ease the pain if a lost one. Of course, that could also back fire and she might hate them. Maybe have a friend let you watch their pet overnight to see how she handles someone new? |
I am sorry your little girl is having problems. It sounds to me like she has been awfully sick. I saw on one of you other threads that she is 12 years old. I think the best thing to do is focus on getting her well. She probably still is not feeling well. It might be best to give her more time or talk to the vet about how she is acting. |
