Rolling in poop!! Hi all! I'm new to YT. I have a smelly issue with my parti yorki, Loula.. She's 9mths old now and very well trained and obedient. We have 2 cats as well and Loula has rolled in their poop a few times in the garden before I've had chance to clear it up...this had only been a few times since we got her, another time she rolled in a scent on the field which I presume was where another animal had done it's business but had been picked up. Last couple days while it's been warmer weather she has rolled in goose poo in the park and I had to wash her in the public loo!!! The same day she rolled in the garden and had to be bathed again!! The day after she did it again in the garden! She hates baths so you would think this would deter her, but no!! I must add, she's a white parti so the filth shows up all over her terribly!!! Has anyone had this issue and found a solution?? I know it's a terrier scent covering trait...but it's soooo inconvenient and smelly! |
I have had one of my dogs roll in dead fish, another one rolled in goose poop and Rabbit poop, one even ate cat poop, both while off leash. Most dogs will roll in stinky things, even eat stinky things. After that I made sure all my dogs were on leash when not in their yard. I have wild cats come in my yard to poop, so I patrol my yard to make sure no deer, rabbit, bear or cat poop is around. I would think the only way you can teach your pup not to roll in poop is to catch her in the act and tell her noooooo, in a firm voice. Good luck |
Yeah that's what in trying ATM...hopefully time and persistence will prevail...I don't want to keep her leashed because she's so good at returning to call a d heeling...I like her to have the freedom to run with my little boy...even my 3yr old tells her "don't roll in poop Loula" haha bless...fingers crossed for now :) |
