Yorkie Biting Furniture Hello All, I have a male puppy yorkie who will be 4 months on 6/16/14. I previously crated him but he is out of the crate now and in my room (which I have sectioned off) and have a gate at the door. He has the potty training pretty much down except for a few minor mistakes here and there. The issue I have now is that today he has destroyed one of the drawers for my bed (I have a captains bed). He basically chewed at the molding on the outside of the draw. This happened when he was locked up in my room and no one home. 1st question - I would like to know what is that spray that I heard you can buy that has a bitter apple taste that they despise? Does it smell bad for humans and will it create bug issues (since I know bugs like that anything)? Can it easily be cleaned off later? Also, where can I buy one. 2nd question - I have decided to not lock him up in my room anymore when we are not home. He has the run of the house already when we are home, so I think that is why he gets frustrated and becomes destructive in my room when he is locked up and alone. Does that make sense? Any suggestions? |
When Ziva and Abby were that age and starting to loose their baby teeth, no furniture was safe- whether they were locked up or not, if they had uninterrupted time to chew they would find something! The best thing I bought was an Iris exercise pen 36 " tall- 8 panels. It was an investment $75 on amazon, but the best one I made. The bitter apple worked on the edges of the baseboards only if I was there to back it up with a NO! and redirecting them. |
