What to do in cold weather For the past 5 days I have been teaching Stella to go outside - she is doing great I bring her out about every 2 hours or 3 and she pees and then I do the 30 minutes after food to get her to poop. I am afraid now that the weather got so cold I am scared to take her outside but I don't want her to revert. I bought her a sweater any thoughts? She is 13 weeks old about 4 pounds. |
I've had to train two of my pups in the winter, it not the perfect predicament but it is necessary. Like you said you don't want he to revert back to old habits. Bundle up and put a weather or coat on her and get going. If you could clear a spot in the yard or where ever it is she goes that would be better. That way there is not as much snow they need to travel through. Mine head right to the heater vent when they come in from the cold !! |
Yeah, I say keep it up in the cold weather. Make sure any snow is trampled down or shoveled. I found that they didn't dawdle as long in the cold. I take it that pad training is not part of the routine? I was happy I did that when temps were well below zero. |
We are going through the same thing. Started Gracie outdoors on a beautiful day and yesterday it hailed on her while she was outside! I put some jammies on her and we are continuing to go outside. She is doing so well it would be horrible to stop and go backwards now and there will always be winter to deal with so we are just going forth. I just make sure she is snuggly and warm when we come back in. |
