Puppy proof my home Hi there, I'm a new mom of a 12 week old Yorkie pup named Piper Bella. We adopted her three days ago. I was wondering if the forum had any recommendations to help puppy proof my home. We already took the time to make our home as safe as possible. Dog gate, put away wires etc. However, we are having issues with areas of our furniture that have small openings such as behind the couch, under the entertainment centre etc. These are obviously dangerous areas where the wires are being hidden and would be difficult to get her out from. We are currently using pillows and cardboard to block all these openings, but we're hoping for some long term and more attractive options. Any recommendations? We live in the UK. Thanks. :) |
:welcome4: :yorkietal :welcome4: Welcome to you and Piper - and congrats on such a special new addition. The best puppy proofing suggestion I can give you is to lay down on your tummy and slide all over the house looking at things from what would be Piper's eye level. That way you can see her new world as she sees it. Gives you a whole new perspective on what might pose a threat and what dangers lurk under furniture and in dark corners. |
When ZoE was a puppy, I bought pool noodles (those long foam poles used to float in swimming pools) and cut them to length with a serrated knife to fill the space under my sofas, so that she couldn't get under the furniture. It was a cheap & easy, and it also stopped balls & toys from rolling under the furniture too! Congratulations on the new puppy! Love the name Piper :) |
