Sing on pee pads then moving outside - realistic?? Hello all - New to Yorkie Forum and so excited! We are bringing home our first puppy in a couple of weeks. We live in the Northeast with lots of cold and snow and our puppy is only 4 lbs. I was planning (???) on training him on pee pads inside in these cold snowy months, then moving the pads outside (to the spot where I want him to go) once it warms up in spring until he gets used to going outside and then eventually getting rid of the pads completely once he starts going in the outside spot. Is this realistic or should I just deal with the cold weather and start outside - I would have to carry him over to the spot where I want him to go (it's down some steps and I don't think he'll be able to make it initially). Thanks in advance! |
At that age it might be best to start him inside on the pads... and than on warmer not so cold days take him outdoors. It is totally doable to switch him to all outdoors potty when the weather is warmer. I've done it and done it with much success and you can find info on how to do it on my website: "Paper Training" Training Tips - Dawn's Yorkies |
