Lancashire Training Hi all I am new to this site so apologies if this is in the wrong place. I am just wondering if anyone knows any good puppy training classes in the Lancashire area, UK? I am in Thornton-Cleveleys. Baxter is my 5 month old puppy and he started off really well with his training but seems to be ignoring me a lot recently and as he is growing up so quick I want to get to grips with the training. Many Thanks Kat |
:) Good morning Kat + Baxter from a fellow UK-er! :) I'm sorry, I'm at the other end of the Country so I'm really not any help at all!!! I wonder if your Vet has a message board? Local trainers advertise on ours here. Have you had a look on your local Gumtree? For example, the Surrey site is full of trainers....you could always go along to classes to see if they would actually suit what you need. What about placing a small ad somewhere, even on a postcard in your local newsagents, stating what you're looking for? Good luck - I hope you manage to find someone lovely! :) Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
Hi Kat. I know of one or two but you need to check if they're still running as it's a while since I attended them. General dog/puppy training classes at Hoghten & Clayton Brook ( personally I didn't like the woman who ran the Hoghten one, my Skyes never forgave her for squirting water in their faces  ) & more specific ringcraft training classes in Wigan( at Highfield) & at Wheelton. The Wheelton one is just for small breeds while the Highfield one is for all breeds so much busier. I've attended both & they are both very good. I would say the Highfield one is more professional, gives a good grounding & gets your dog mixing with all size of others, whereas the Wherlton one is smaller, more intimate like a local club. They are both very friendly & welcoming. |
Just to add.... All those a bit of a distance from you. I don't know the Blackpool area well regarding dog classes. There's a private training establishment between Southport & Croston but that will be expensive & not what you need. Have you thought of getting in touch with the people who run the Blackpool championship show, they might know of local classes? Don't dismiss ringcraft classes even if you have no intention of showing. They get your dog mixing with others, used to bring handled by other people when the person judging goes over them on the table, & really concentrating on you & what you want them to do. |
Kat, do you know there's a UK part of the forum? If you click on regional at the top of the main forums page, scroll down you'll find a "Europe" board. Not specifically UK but we're all part of the EU now  It isn't a very busy forum but there are a few of us UK members there |
Thanks for the replies:) I will check out the UK page - thanks for the tip! Nice to see some friends on here from the UK! :):) |
