stupid pee pad question-- do they pee once and you throw it out? How often do you need to through them out? Daily? After each use? I got the jumpstart pads from Petsmart. |
Answer Mason will not use them after he has soiled it...So, I through them out after each use. Some furbabies will use them several times first. |
They will use them several times before you need to throw them out. It is up to you and your Yorkie how many times is enough, but I would say one peepad a day is about right. |
In also use the Jump start pads and the are so expensive. I generally change it after a few uses for potty and if i am going to put her in the crate while I'm gone which isn't often, I make sure a clean oneis in there. |
I reuse until it's necessary that I change it or until the day is over...whichever comes first. Course, I pick up any poos that happen to magically appear throughout the day and flush those. The pad that goes under each dogs kennel gets changed as needed. |
Same here... Pixie will use hers several times, it doesn't bother her (But I'm using washable/resuable ones, they suck it up and the top layer is usually dry again before she needs to go). I switch 'em out every night before we go to bed. |
I too reuse until I can't reuse anymore. The more soiled aka inspiration enhanced, they are, the more they will use it. I especially don't throw them out quickly when I am traveling. Gross I know, but when a dog is in an unfamiliar area, a puppy pad with inspiration will always help them focus. |
I used to put several peices of newspaper on top of the puppy pad and change throw those out after every mess. Some smell gets through for them next time to the pages below. That way I only change the pad a couple of times a week. I found that my dogs don't like the coloured pages of the paper like the comic strips... only like to pee on the plain articles  |
when I used them, I changed them everyday unless otherwise needed |

There's a few places that I know of. www.piddlepads.com www.valethics.com www.pishpad.com You can also check out this thread. Someone else said that baby burp rags work well too. I have the PiddlePads and love them.... Couple tips though.... Don't use fabric softener (any liquids on the pad will just kind of bead up and don't get absorbed) or bleach (it's too harsh on the fabric and shortens the life span). Detergents work better than soaps (think Ivory Snow). Check out diaperpin.com for more washing tips (they reference baby diapers... same thing more or less). I noticed there was still a slight odor after washing them (I was only using laundry soap), and I followed the tips on the site and they're now scent free! Another YTer uses Odo Ban to get rid of any odors... I haven't tried that yet. The baking soda/vinegar is cheap and it works well.... |
