To Fix or Not to Fix?????????? My Yorkie, Pepper, is five months old. My husband wants him to have one "fling" before we have him fixed! I think he should be fixed before he starts lifting his leg. Also, I know he's teething but he's also doing his share of biting at our feet and hands. Is the "biting" due to teething? Will fixing him calm him down. My Mother just passed away the other day and we had to take Pepper to Florida for two weeks. He was wonderful on the trip but it sure affected me and my husband, why not him? He loved the ride (from NY to FL), motel rooms, the house in Florida and all the attention but I think he got exhausted too. The biting wasn't such an issue before our trip. |
At five months old they start losing their teeth,so the biting is normal.Sometimes they can seem desperate, even rough, but it should pass as soon as the adult teeth come through.Until then give him plenty of toys to chew on and try to keep him away from your hands and feet, those baby teeth really hurt! lol.About having him fixed,I deffinately would do it before he starts getting bad habbits, like lifting his leg..and if you breed him, even after having him fixed, the leg lifting may never stop.Breeding males as a rule do not make good pets.I have been told this by ALOT of breeders on other boards. Some breeders have to keep their males confined because they are constantly marking their territory. Its said that some boys dont mark even though they are not fixed, but as a rule they do and its a habbit hard to break once it starts..and if fixing is left too long,it may never stop.Tell your husband that his boy doesnt need a fling as he wont miss something he has never tried and once he is fixed he wont even feel the urge;) |
what does "one last fling" mean????? do you want to actually breed him, or does youre husband just want him to be able to get off one time before he gets neutered???? if you dont want to breed than i would suggest neutering... toby had a lot of nasty habbits, like humping and marking, but aafter he was neutered this all stopped |
By all means, have him NEUTERED!!!! It stops so many undesirable habits from developing and continuing. |
