Suddenly having accidents in my room? Teething? First of all Lola is only having the accidents in my room, so I highly doubt it's medical beyond teething. She's lost about 8 baby teeth this week and the adult ones are just starting to pop through. She's almost 5 months old. Another important thing is she usually won't pee or poop in front of anyone, so it's hard to praise her for doing it right or wrong. She'll seriously hold it for hours. I do praise or stop her when I catch her. She's never been yelled at for having an accident, this has always been one of her little quirks. I never crate trained or confined her because I just put the pads where she was peeing and she picked up on it really fast. Downstairs she's just about perfect with peeing, she'll have a small accident maybe every other week *as long as my grandmom's bedroom door is shut*. She's about 50/50 with pooping. She was doing equally well in my room until this past week, since then she's been having at least one accident a day. It usually happens while I'm asleep. She has 3 pee pads in my room, they're all clean when I go to bed and she has a night light and my TV is on. The accidents are usually 6-12 inches from her pee pads. Tonight I stopped her from peeing between her 2 pee pads, they're about a foot apart. She sleeps in my bed and has steps to get on and off. |
I think you have to either crate her or put her in an expen at night until she is old enough to learn or sleeps through the night. She may just not realize in her sleep she isn't hitting the mark. Jess took about 5 months to learn. With her she only learned when I disciplined with a loud and low voice when she did wrong. No hitting or screaming just loud and low. Once she determined loud and low was not as much fun as happy high and singsong she stopped. at least she isn't peeing in your bed! |

Well last night she peed on her pee pads each time, hopefully this little wrinkle has passed. She was almost perfect in my room for over a month prior to this. If I have to confine her I'll have to buy a crate, I'm pretty sure she could climb out of an ex-pen. When I catch her having an accident I tell her no, pick her up, put her on the pee pad, and tell her this is where she goes potty. I'm extremely glad she's not peeing in my bed, I can deal with the floor. It's mostly just odd that she started having all these accidents after doing so well. |
