Agressive puppy?? This not about a Yorkie but I thought you all might have a little advice. My sister has a Shih Tzu that is 10 weeks old. It has a big attitude. The vet came out and told her today that she needed to get the dog under control and it is going to be a biter. This puppy is just 10 weeks old. I am in shock. The dog has bit my niece 2 times already. Once in the face once on the arm. I keep thinking maybe where she is only 3 maybe she is hurting the puppy. Now I don't know what to think. How do you deal with an agressive puppy? Any advice please. She is almost ready to get rid of the puppy. |
The pup needs to be enrolled in obedience classes. As for the vet, hmmm... I might look for another. |
I agree, at Ten weeks they begin teething. Shih Tzus though are known to have slight tempers and attitude. To help with the biting I recommend using something called Bitter Apple. Its a sour spray that you spray either in the dogs mouth, on what they bite, or on your finger. If you put in on your finger gently grasp the dogs muzzle and part its lips and rub the solution on the teeth or directly on the tounge. I too recommend obediance training. Best of luck. Oh here is a link that may help. http://www.canismajor.com/dog/shihtzu.html |
Thank you both for the advice...I will pass it on! |
Is this their first pup? I think its normal in all breeds for them to chew and bite due to teething. |
