bumping up for replies.... |
Hello and welcome! :D Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean by tiring her in her crate?? The way we tire Harry out is to give him a really good walk, then lots of running and play around the house....he's normally exhausted by bed-time and then sleeps through from about 9 p.m. to whenever we wake him up. Do your Yorkies all play and have a good game together? Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
Our trainer told us to try clapping/stomping to disrupt the energy in the room when the barking starts. However, Logan can power right through any noise we try to make to interrupt his barking! He mostly barks at meals and when it's time to go for walkies, so it's not a huge deal. I have a friend who just lightly taps his dog's nose and says "No more barking" and it works!!! I'm so jealous... Harrysmum gave GREAT advice- tire your baby out with a nice loooooong walk and lots of play before bed-time. Then hopefully she'll sleep through the night and you'll kill two birds with one stone. |
dog Didn't someone mention a loud horn to sound off to cut the barking? Of course at that hour of the morning no one wants to hear a loud horn. My Yorkies will bark at coyote noises and other strange noises. I just tell them to go lay down. I take them away from the door and they usually get quiet. |

They do have long walks .. just been playing ball for two hours and they have came in and gone to sleep !! I can't make noises at night it will upset the rest of the family !!y husband has to be up for work at 5 ... she also goes nuts when door goes but I guess not much can be done about that ?? Thank you for advice :) xx |
Jess did this too around a year old. I put her in her crate in my daughters room and it stopped. Try and blanket over it if the sound of someones breathing doesn't soothe her. It stops... |
There are a couple of products on the market for this problem---"Stop That" by Sentry and "Pet Corrector"---I'm not sure who makes it. There are several people on here that give it glowing reviews & there are also very good reviews about it on Petsmart's website. Just yesterday I called our local Petsmart & they have the "Stop That". They said it was $10. I'm going to buy some this weekend & see if it works for us. |

Harry went through a little period of this....we crated him, he had everything he needed in there, and we put the crate in our room. The fact that he could see and smell us (!!:p) seemed to calm him. We continued with this until we could trust him totally - not just pees and poops, but when we KNEW he wouldn't chew anything/everything :) And then we gave him free roam of the house. Just wondering - does your other Yorkie free roam, or is he/she confined to a crate/certain room etc? Sally + Harry x |
Hi ladies , I live in uk can I buy those products here ??? Ralph does not go in a crate anymore he sleeps in his bed next to us .. I tried bella in the crate last night she cried for 2 hours I let her out back up in bed next to Ralph .. When she barks at the door I put her in the crate .. Do you think she will learn from this ??? we have had her two weeks at first she was nervous and toilet on indoors she now goes mainly outside which is good .. she won't bark to go out bit Ralph does .. Bella is 7 months the girl didn't take her out so decided to rehome her I couldn't say no .. she is a joy loves to play ball and other dogs :) just the sudden barking spells mainly at night and door being knocked ...thank you all for the replies xx |
Good morning! :D I just had a look on Pets at Home....they really only do the collars, which of course are totally wrong for our little ones. But it might be worth you having a look on www.amazon.com if you put Pet Corrector spray into their search thingy a whole load come up - and several of them have excellent reviews....might be worth a try? :) Sally + Harry x |
I'm sooo disappointed. Went to my local Petsmart yesterday. They DID NOT have the "Stop That" or the Pet Corrector, as the guy at Petsmart said. Guess I'll have to order from Amazon. |
Good suggestions here. After reading them through, all I can do is offer you a hug for support, and welcome you and your furbabies to YT! (((hug))). I hope things get better for you! Hang in there! |
