Lola has JW hol-ee balls (small and x-small), which look like wiffle balls but they're soft rubber. Sometimes she'll play with those or carry them around. She also has a JW baseball, but she never touches it. She might like fabric balls better though. She doesn't really rip and tear at things, the closest she gets to that is when she shreds paper or pulls fibers out of the edge of my rug. I can't find anything about *new* Himalayan chews having bad bacteria, just that the company has been testing them each year for a few years to find an expiration date. However, I found studies where they found e. coli, c. diff, and MRSA on bully sticks. Can anyone explain this non-play biting? Lola will lay on the sofa or floor on her back, with her mouth wide open, and she'll roll from side to side. If you pet her while she's doing this, she'll try to chew on your hand. If you ignore her she'll bark or growl. If you put a toy in her mouth she'll knock it out. It doesn't seem to be one of the ways she tries to initiate play. Maybe it's an attention thing? Sometimes she does it when I'm paying attention to her though. |
