URGENT - question Will a neutered adult (4-year-old) male Yorkie still try to mount a female dog? I don't know if the female has been neutered. Do males do this, even neutered males who were neutered "late?" I am told he also lifts his legs to urinate and supposedly doesn't "mark territory" inside, but does outside. Does this sound reasonable? I don't know that much about males! Any replies appreciated! |
If he's been neutered, it's probably more of a dominance thing than a sexual thing...Momo tries to hump Turbo sometimes (they're both neutered) & Turbo will sit there, his back to Momo & yawn, poor thing loll. He's showing submission to Momo & sometimes they make out too, kiss (smell) ea/other.:p |
I really would prefer another female, but..........OMG, he is so cute! |
Are you looking into adopting this male? Mine are such momma's boys loll, they're so loving towards me...but they love their grandparents too. My boys also mark, but only outside. @ home, I have their potty areas in the bathroom & they never 'mark' anywhere else, they just pee normally in their designated areas. |
Mimimomo, are you going to be online for a bit? I need some objective advice & I'd like to PM someone knowledgeable.....I feel torn. |
My Chachi who is neutered only marks outside. I have heard on here of a neutered yorkie mounting a female but its really so rare that I dont think you have anything to worry about |
Will a neutered adult (4-year-old) male Yorkie still try to mount a female dog? I don't know if the female has been neutered. Do males do this, even neutered males who were neutered "late?" Yes, if the female is not spayed and in heat the neutered male will try to tie and could possibly hurt himself, do not allow neutered males alone with unspayed females, it can cause serious injury, although no pregnancy will result. If the female has be spayed, then it's more of a dominance thing and they won't try to tie, but they will hump without any danger. I am told he also lifts his legs to urinate and supposedly doesn't "mark territory" inside, but does outside. This is what Joey does and it's very common, especially if the male has been around other dogs. |

I feel sorry for it! It got passed to new owners and then left all alone during the day........ |
My boys mark outdoors, but not indoors. They are neutered, and Teddy will hump Max sometimes as a dominance thing. Being males, of course, there isn't any risk as there would be with a female. |

Something's rotten in Denmark, I found out these people have only had him 3 months but yet, they refuse to tell me who they got him from. I think a neighbor or someone like that, gave them the dog TO KEEP, and now they're trying to SELL IT. They categorically refuse to tell me who it is - the whole thing seems fishy to me. I just hope the dog gets a good home.:confused: |
