mozzys mom | 03-23-2013 07:37 PM | Nasty lil habit, isn't it? Lol. I love to do kissy face so I find it especially disturbing. My lil man (15wks) starting poop eating when I changed his food. Oddly enough he went from a lower quality food that he didn't have much interest in to a very high quality kibble that he loves. I've been playing around w/the amounts to make sure he's getting enough.
My advice is to keep a close eye out. As soon as he's done his business, dispose of it. I won't even allow him to sniff it. On walks, again, watch like a hawk and don't let him sniff anything. I had a shelter dog that would not only eat her poop, but would eat other dogs poop. At night when I couldn't see her while pooping, I would give her a breath test at the door. If she was minty fresh, she would get a good girl, if not, a very harsh bad girl! LOL. I wouldn't recommend the breath test on your guy. I'm sure it goes against everything trainers and behaviorist believe in. Yoshi did stop poop eating over time. My first dog ate poop also. I think it was more out of boredom tho as I worked full time. I believe she stopped when she was potty trained.
There are several food additives on the market, but I don't have any experience with them. Good luck to us both! |
