George has gone backwards Our new grandson was born in January so of course we had to go and visit. They live an 8 hour drive away so we decided to have a holiday at same time. To cut a long story short I left George with my daughter in law and her 2 dogs who get caged everynight and of course George being a dog went in the cage to, we were away for 6 nights and now George is wanting to go out to the toilet twice a night, where as before he slept all night with us, he sleeps on our bed but I usually hear him jump down so I wake up. On the few times I have'nt woken he has gone to the toilet inside. How am I going to stop this and get him back to how we were before. My hubby not keen on caging him and thinks I wont be that cruel, I have suggested feeding in the morning only but then he eats the cat food and it's not the cat fault so why should she miss out too. Any suggestions Please I haven't had a good sleep since early feb:confused: |
Sometimes you'll have to go back and start potty training all over from square one. But before you do that, have you tried taking him for a long walk just before bedtime to allow him to empty himself out? |
Thanks for that idea I will be walking the street tonight as he let me down last night I was so tired I didn't hear him get up, will let you know how I get on tommorrow.;) |
To Add: Many Yorkies get 'off schedule' after vacations or moving into a new home, or even after a hospital stay by them or the owner. I'd almost find it unusual if they don't, lol. Maybe some extra hugs and reassurance would help him to readjust too. I'm sure he missed you a lot. |
Will the cat eat somewhere high up so he can't get into the food? |
You don't know my cat Womble she is 15 fat and dosen't do high up but a good suggestion anyway thank you. I did take George walking last night at 10.30pm not the best time in a dark street but he did do his business 1s and 2s and slept through till 6 am so I'm happy with that, will walk him again before bed for a few more nights then start going earlier and earlier:eek: |
