Crate training adult dog
 
Ok, I have to do something because this can not go on like this...I left Chewie alone today because both of us had work to do and when we came home we found he peed on the bed... It's time to have him properly trained but I am not sure about the process.

The main idea is crate him, get him out, put him on the pad to pee/poo, play with him, feed and back in the crate? He is 11 month old, so I have no idea how long should he be in the crate, how long the play time,and so on...

Crate training is a really good idea. If you get a crate, you want to get one that will work with an X-Pen! The crate can be attached and have a pee pad, water and food in it, so while you are away your pup has everything he needs and you can rest assured your pup won't be getting into "trouble". If you live in an apartment, your pup may bark, whine, or cry while you are gone so you need to be aware of that. Good luck and let us know how things go and what you decide to do.

I already have a crate (which he doesn't like), and a x-pen, which can be opened and transformed into a fence.
My problems is that Chewie is used to move around with us in the house, and he is free in the bedroom. So I am not sure how to proceed with the crate training without him feeling punished...

Best you can do is to make his crate area fun. Toys, treats etc. only give the toys and treats in the crate/pen area. I have a one piece unit that has room for a bed/food and water and play area on one side and a pee room when she walks through the door. it has a top and It has a floor so if she makes a mistake i can just wipe it up. Shes pretty good though..

We got our pups to like their crate by tossing a treat in it every time we walked by it. They can smell that it's there and then learn that it's a nice place to be. It takes a while but your pup will learn it's a nice place too. Give it a try.

I'm actually wondering the same. My Yoshi has been having A LOT of accidents lately. He's been free to roam for quite a while. So I'm wondering if "re-crate-training" will work and/or if it will make him tense & cause other behavioral issues.
