Help with pee-pad Shredding
 
Nylon Net can be bought at fabric stores. Cut to the size you need and use over disposable pee-pads. It will fit under a frame. It can also be anchored with fist sized rounded river rocks at the corners (my own solution). My friend uses aged bricks for corner weights. Yorkies do not like the feel of nylon net on their claws when diggging or on their teeth or tongue. This usualy stops them from shredding pee pads. Nylon net can be washed by hand or machine.

Thanks! I was not sure if that was the netting you were talking about....I have a baby now that absolutely makes confetti out of pee pads......I will get some netting this weekend and see if this solves my problem!!!

I take the lazy way out and buy pads from T Bumpkins & Co. They look better, wash and dry like a dream, and the pups cannot shred them! :D In the long run, I believe I have saved a ton of money.

Nothing against your idea, Teresa, just not for me. Seems like a whole lot of extra work. I think it is because I probably have a few more pups than most. :D :p;)

I agree with ladyjane. I use wahable pee-pads too. I love them. I think they are money savers. I have 5 Yorkies myself.
But, I have had so many people ask what they can do about the disposable ones and shredding. This hint has been printed on Yorkie Talk before, by another member, I can't remember who. So I just posted it again for new people.

I wish I could use washable ones. But we do not have a washer and dryer here. We have to go to the laundry mat :(

don't let that stop you..just like cloth diapers, you can soak them in a bucket or the bathtub?

i bought reusable pads from posh puppy and not so happy with them. it is basically a flannel cloth with vinyl sewn to the back. although emma cannot shred them that doesnt stop her from pulling theup and chewing on them so when she has to go the pad is in a mound and makes such a mess. she shreds and chews the the disposable ones to bits. dont know what to do now:confused:

well, it is alot of work but you could get mats that are more heavy and sturdy and sew or glue velcro to them, then sew or glue velcro to the pads and the puppy might not be able to pick them up?

Best thing we ever did was purchase the T Bumpkins & Co washable pee pads. Ordered the standard size and they wash and dry well. I was so worried Hope would get sick from eating the disposable pee pads and these were recommended to me on YT. I was concerned the color patterned fabric would confuse her but it didn't. I keep one in her her play pen and the other by the back door.

Just a warning regarding these washables they are listed for $25, but the shipping is $56.23. :eek:

i don't pay attention to shipping charges too much, they are telling you the ups charge if you choose that method. just write the person and ask them to send it domestic. some people are silly with thier shipping prices. it also may be a misquote so i always just write them.:)
