Is he just being playful? My 3 months old yorkie definitely has an attitude! Small dog, BIG attitude :) He loves attention and loves playing with us, but I have been noticing he gets somewhat aggressive? Or maybe just playful, but its hard to tell. While playing tag of war (his favorite) if I grab him or he doesn't really get his way he gets snappy. If it gets out of control I stop him and tell him to calm down. I'm never mean to him, but do use firm voice. My boyfriend likes to play with him but "getting down to his level" and he goes crazy jumping at his head, biting his hair and trying to bite his face! When he gets too playful he bites his nose, (doesn't do that to me), are those type of games not a good idea? |
When Huey was that age, he was a bad nose nipper. He drew blood on both me & hubby a couple of times by nipping the nasal septum. A firm NO and a gentle push away from the face finally stopped that behavior. Sometimes we still let him climb around on our heads and play in our hair, but no nipping allowed. A pillow over the face (ours, not his) is a good protector for this kind of play, and it is usually the "get out of bed and play with me" that starts it. Sometimes he gets snippy and protective of items and once again, we use the NO and gently remove the item from the area. |

I usually cover my face with my hands cause he would jump on it and pull my hair, luckily he doesn't go for my nose :) I just don't want to encourage naughty behavior. |
You would think my hair is the best tug of war toy ever, at least for Chewie :)). He is older now (around 10 months) so he knows he shouldn't bite, but still goes playfully for my boyfriend's nose :)... |
