How is he ever going to learn to hold it?! Hi guys. I've been pretty religious about Gizmo's pee and poop schedule. Obsessing over not wanting a half house trained dog. He's 6 months. I'm getting tired. From the beginning he would go to has pee pad and I would know to take him outside. No he'll ring the bell to go outside sometimes, but if I see him heading toward the door I take him. Now I'm to the point where I just can't fly home during lunch to take him outside all the time. I have cloth potty pads so he can't chew them up, but I really want him to learn to hold it until I come back. If he's in his pen, he'll just go. There's no waiting. I don't get it. How is he every going to learn?? |
I was thinking the same thing this morning :-/ Dex is 3 months and he would hold during the day (we have left him in his cage alone for whole day few times). In the evening I also take him out on HIS "command", at night we also wake up to take him out when he starts whining. Do I try to have him wait a little bit? How big is his pen? I read that dogs wouldn't go and sit in the same place usually, so maybe you should try using smaller space? We have a crate for a big dog with enough space for his bed and pad. |
Teeka is almost 7 months. I am home all day and she still has accidents. Usually it is the poo kind but sometimes she will pee if not taken out on time! I have to take her out every couple of hours and after she wakes or plays hard. I think they have such tiny bladders that they just can't hold it very long! They are still puppies and it will take a while! My first yorkie was so easy to train and rarely had an accident in the house. Max is a now neutered male and he likes to lift his leg on stuff! Teeka is pretty head strong and can be stubborn! She has a very short attention span and when outside she sometimes forget "why" she is out and her nose take over! She always is "sniffing" out something! I just have to wait until she decides she is ready to go. I even give her the command to "potty" and she just ignores me and follows her nose! It will take time, just have some patience! :) |
