a sense of accomplishment...
 
i feel a sense of accomplishment... after 4 weeks of attending and training bunjee, we've finally accomplished a few goals this past week, it makes those sleepless nights worthwhile ...

- finally found a treat he loves: cheese!
- poop and pee on potty pad 95% of the time, no matter where it is in the kitchen
- pee on command
- minimal barking for attention, especially at night
- respond to "no bite" command
- responds to name when called
- walks on my left most of the time instead of constantly weaving to the left and right, ahead of me and behind.
- will automatically stop or hesitate at the edge of the carpeted area with or without me saying "NO"

but these compliances are at home... this next week will be a test, a moment of truth... i'm going to my in-laws, which will be a completely foreign environment for him. wish us luck! hopefully he;ll b a good boy there too.

oh.. it's funny how bunjee's good behavior has led to my husband's growing acceptance and fondness of him. hubby wasn't hot on getting a puppy at first and bunjee was going to be "my dog" and my responsibility. our agreement was that i'll manage all the caregiving. he doesn't have to lift a finger.

but in the past week, without me asking, hubby's walked him, cleaned up after his pee, refers to bunjee as "our dog" as opposed to "my dog", often is very protective of bunjee, and sometimes even greets bunjee before me when he gets home!

men are so funny sometimes.

Good JOB! that is great, don't let him get away with anything at inlaws,, it will set him back at home. Keep an eye on him there, since it will be all new.

That is really awesome!! Congratulations!! :) How old is Bunjee? Can't wait till my girl learns all that stuff. What kind of class did you take him to?

rrosenberry thanks! most definitely i'll be working with him when we get to my in-law's as i am at home. i just hope the "grandparents" don't spoil him too much!

Raisingirl thanks! bunjee is a little over 12 weeks old now. i got him when he was 8 weeks. i took him to the beginning puppy obedience classes at petsmart. and of course all the wonderful tips and advices from everyone here has been invaluable!!!! it's just a wonderful feeling when you can sigh and say... i think he's got it!!!
