pee pads I have a yorkie who will be 4 months tomorrow. She does pretty good going outside, but she has plenty of accidents inside. How can I train her to go on the potty pads? She just wants to carry them around the house  |
Ha ha. My guy used to do that when he was a pup. He would pick them up and shake them until the stuffing flew out! My only advice would be to stay with it. After about 6 months, he stopped doing that and became completely pad trained. Good luck. |
I have a 3 year old and she is potty pad trained. She uses a potty patch with the fake grass. I contained her in an x pen with the potty patch until she started going on it - use lots of praise and treats. I slowly would increase the area where she was contained until it ended up being the entire kitchen area, then the kitchen and hallway, then the kitchen, hallway and living room and so on. I don't want to discourage you but it took her a year to catch on. I have read that some dogs take weeks but I wasn't that lucky. Good luck |
My baby is turning a year on Friday. She is using the pee pads to pee, but never poops on the pad. She poops on the floor. I can't get her to use the pad. Any ideas? I have only had her for 6 months as the previous owner never trained her to do anything. Sometimes she likes to play with the pad and drag it around and tear it up. Ugh |
I use the quilted pads (24x36) Ryan sells here on YT (RDB911) and use the disposable ones only when we travel. They are heavy enough that a puppy wouldn't find them fun to play with, but you could put a two way tape at each corner. |
Maybe start by putting the pads by the outside door and place her on it and tell her to go potty and reward her when she does. Once she gets the idea you could move the pads somewhere else. I took in a 16 year old rescue from a lady who had a stroke and couldn't care for him. He was trained only to the outside, but since 2 of my girls are pad trained he just started using them. But that was easier because he learned from the others. |
Thanks for all the wonderful ideas and suggestions. I appreciate the help. Hopefully she will get used to it. |
