Puppy proofing help?
 

We're getting Pilot in a few weeks, very excited about little dude's arrival, he will be the first dog to live in this house, so it's quite exciting. His "space" before he is potty trained will be my boyfriend's and I's bedroom. His kennel, feeding area and his regular bed are set up, the tv, modem, and playstation cords are blocked, but I cannot for the life of my figure out how to protect the laptop power supplies. They run under the couch to our coffee table in our room. The couch is high enough that the puppy can walk under it very easily (probably will be able to full grown) and it's the only plug we can use for our laptops. We can't move them due to them being older laptops with short battery lives, it's just not plausible for us to charge the laptops elsewhere, we use them quite often. I looked into the Chewsafe cord protectors, but can't find them for sale and the Marshall cord protectors have complaints of an overpowering odor that lasts far too long. Besides taping the cords to the floor with packing tape (which would be dreadfully tacky) I have no ideas. I don't want to spend a lot on the puppy proofing of these cords but I don't want to have to replace a $100 power supply either. I will be supervising Pilot, but it'd take just a second for him to chew the cords. Help???

I also have a power cord that runs through my room that I am unable to remove or move to somewhere else. I got a clear tube from the hardware store, cut a slit down the length, and stuck the cord in...

How exciting! New baby. I would stuff pillows under the sofa so she can not get under there, but no solution for the exposed cord...........good luck and congratulations.

Go to your local home improvement store (Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, etc). There are plenty of flexible tubes that you could put the power cord in. Flexible water supply lines in the plumbing department come to mind. You'd just take a sharp utility knife & cut open the tubing so you could slip the power cord in. It's on a roll and you can buy it by the foot so you can much as much as you need.

*when ZoE was a puppy, I put those jumbo swimming noodles under the couch so she couldn't get under there & it stopped her toys getting under there. You just cut those with a serated kitchen knife.

Will look into the water lines, my dad has a salt water tank, I think I know something that will work. Our couch is high and has a good 10 inch gap from the floor to the bottom, plenty of space for a pup to get in trouble. I secured the cords to the bottom of the couch with zip ties and will be putting tape over them so that they won't dangle and catch her eye. The pipe should help with the exposed bits. I don't really want to move the cords out of his way completely because I want Pilot to learn not to chew, not just have to keep everything out of his way. Prevent damage that will ruin the cords but enough distraction he'll learn that it's just part of the floor, not a toy.

When Ziva was a puppy we blocked under the sofa with triangular shipping boxes used by fedex for blueprints/plans.Now that she is a tight fit for crawling underneath we only block her from getting behind it (where she does naughty things!) with creased tissue or cereal boxes wedged between the wall and back.
