How many for pee-pad? Okay, so I'm just curious. Do any of you have adult dogs that still use the pee-pad as their primary source for potty time? I was just reading a Maltese board and a lot of the owners strictly use pee pads as opposed to outdoors. I would love to have Chester potty train outside, but it's so cold here right now in Colorado and I spend a lot of time up in the mountains at my parent's house where there is always mud and snow. Anyway, just curious to see if I'd be considered a weirdo if I did inside potty training instead :p Oh yeah, do any of you use the puppy litter boxes?? I'm really curious about those too... Jamie |
Hi Jamie! I have two yorkies, Simon is 2 and Hallie is almost 4 and they both use potty pads all the time! I got Simon in Alaska as a puppy and it was much too cold for him to go outside so I started on the pads and he still uses them. Hallie was 2.5 when I got her and just followed Simon's lead. I'm in NY now and it is cold here as well so I have pads in my apartment that they use! I hope I'm not weird ;) I tried the litter box system but found it messy and Simon wanted to play in it all the time! He prefers the pads so that is what we use! |
Emma is 8 weeks old and we tried the litter box/recycled new paper pellet things, and she didnt do it, she just napped on the pellets...although cute, very frustrating. So we put the pee-pee pad in the litter box and she just chewed up the pad and the box....so we put just the pad on the ground and she finally went for the first time this morning on it! Lets just hope she keeps it up |

bunjee is nearly 12 weeks old now and goes exclusively on the potty pad. not by my choice, but good enuf for now. ideally i'd like for him to be able to go outside as well as on the potty pad. but for right now, potty pads makes the most sense since i live on the 10th floor of a complex and do not have a deck, patio or yard. so i expect bunjee to continue using the potty pad, unless of course i buy a house....which...that'll be the day.... |
Parker is twelve weeks and goes outside and uses pee pad both. He pees way too much for me to go out in the freezing cold every time! |
pee pee pad all the way for lexi indoors only... she never went outside to potty. |
Miko uses the pee pads all the time and he's 1 yr and 8 months old. When Miko was little, we lived in a 3rd floor apartment, so going up and down the stairs 50 times a day was not good. hehe. We love the fact that he uses the pads because he does his business on them, and then we pick up the pad, throw it out, and put a new one down. No mess, no accidents! Except for sometimes some of it goes off the pad if he's on the edge. |
Mine use pee pads all the time too. I started that because I was working, now I don't, and could outside train, but there are cats in the yards, dogs, wild animals, wet/cold/hot/muddy - why go through all that when you can change the pad and be done? |
Mine use them all the time . |
Cali is 25 weeks and will only use the wee wee pads, which is fine by me but my pom is almost 9 years old and weighs 12 lbs and she is trained for outside, I hope in the spring she will go outside when were out and inside when needed. |
Well looks like I'm not a wierdo afterall! :D Now if I could just get him to actually GO on the pad... Thanks everyone for all the input! Jamie |
yeap...We use them too. To be honest, I'm too lazy to go outside as often as they have to go potty. They only downside is that sometimes they miss the pad, but most of the time they're really good. |
