Avoids grass? Buddy is 12 weeks and he was doing good going in the grass at one point. Now when I take him out back, he will stay on the concrete, and sometimes go potty on the concrete. If I call him into the grass he just looks at me. If I put him in the grass, he runs back. And if he's on leash he tries to pull me to the concrete. I've been walking him every time he goes potty and he goes on the road. Sometimes he goes outside but doesn't go potty, less than a minute after coming inside, he goes on the floor. I've been giving him a treat right away when he goes potty outside |
Emy has just started doing that also....we had some rain last week and last night also, when I take her out and we go to the grass, she just pulls and pulls trying to head to the driveway....and we'll walk around the driveway (its a circular driveway, rather large) and she will poop on it and pee on it...kind of easier to clean up..but wondering why she doesn't like the grass, maybe she doesn't like her feet getting wet?? If thats the case we're in for a long winter.....I've purchased those pawz, but I can't get them on her, if I could, her feet wouldn't get wet...I also have boots for winter, but that was a fight with her also, couldn't even get one on....grrrrrrrrrr... |
if its dewy with a bit of wetness that may be what he doesnt like. Lola hates wet grass and my Cedric could careless. your doing great though just keep trying to introduce him and hell get the hang of it with consistency. |
My princess does not like getting her feet wet...gave me a rough time my first winter then I bought polar fleece boots that she doesn't mind putting on, and keep on. I got them from Heidi and Company (I love the fact that she includes 5 boots...it never seems to fail I lose one somewhere :)) Doggie Booties - Pack of 5 | Heidi & Company – Alaskan Dog Apparel and Accessories I also tried the Pawz, but I couldn't seem to get them on my pup's feet...but I've used these ones: ![]() And they work well. Very easy to put on, and I've used them 2-3X before they developed holes that made replacing them necessary. Good luck! |
Thanks guys. But he doesnt like the grass even when it's wet. |
Columbo isn't crazy about being the grass. He goes potty in the grass, but most of the time will walk down the driveway/curb/sidewalk/road rather than walk in the grass. I also notice that the longer the grass is, the more he's like that, so I always keep the grass freshly mowed for him. Wet grass and cold weather also make it worse. I think it also has something to do with their short little legs. Sort of like how we'd feel walking in a field with grass up to our knees or higher. Not fun. |
Grass feels funny tickles or can be pokey. I had this issue with 2 of my dogs. Dog shoes exposure. I prefer poop on concrete so much cleaner. |
My Mac doesn't care much for grass either. But I was persistant with his training and he finally (took a verrrry long time) got the idea to "go" on the grass. Though for peeing it's usually still three legs on the sidewalk and one leg "up" over the grass, unless he spies a good tree. :D If the grass is wet - it's even worse for him. |
