Dog not sharing with new puppy Hey everyone! So as most know, we've added a baby girl to our family. Geno has been slowly adjusting but he really has a hard time sharing. She cannot play with one toy for too long before Geno comes and snatches it out of her mouth. Is there a way to teach Geno to share his toys and to just leave her alone while she plays with a toy unless she initiates play with him? I give him a firm "NO" when he takes her toy but Geno just runs away with the toy in his mouth. |
I honestly have the opposite problem!! We added a female, now 12 weeks to a home with a male 11 years old. They get along better every day, but SHE snatches everything from him! Toys, kibbles, bones! anything he has she comes charging at him to snatch it. He has been so good about it too that he will just walk away from her. One day he picked up a few pieces of his kibble and walked away to go into another room to eat them as he usually does and she came charging at him, he dropped the kibbles and she picked them up! I keep saying puppies have no manners and hopefully she will get better, but I think it also depends on who is the alpha or trying to be! Good luck to you! |
Do you have any toys that have duplicates, like Hide-a-Squirrel, and there's around 4 or 5 other varieties, or get some exact copies of some of the toys you already have? Tink was very toy obssessive and having duplicates made her less so. Or give the puppy her own toys to play with, as discipline would make more sense then. |
